Dear Fellow Scriptwriters,
For those that do not know I have mental illness. I am diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and PTSD. My husband is also mentally ill, he suffers from borderline personality disorder as well as schizoaffective disorder and intermittent explosive disorder. With his prison incarceration sentence, he has been having trouble dealing with schizoaffective disorder. He suffers with a string of paranoia and anxiety. I love him and I’m helping him through it, but to be completely honest with you all sometimes it is hard!
My husband and I knew we were destined to be each other’s soulmates from the start. You see we met eight years ago at St. Lukes Hospital, and we were instantly attracted. Having had many relationships that did not last I was scared of getting hurt again, so having made several acquaintances at St. Lukes Hospital I asked around about what kind of man he was, although due to HIPPA the staff could tell me very little. I did surmise by what I found out that he had been through a lot of rough patches as well. So, summoning up my courage and my best flirtatious smile I introduced myself and we got to talking. Through that first interaction, I did not know what an amazing person that I would meet or that I would meet the love of my life! But here I am eight and a half years later, and I am the happiest and most emotionally stable person that I have ever been in my thirty seven years.
It can be troublesome at times, and sure we have our tiffs we are not perfect. But through finding my soulmate, I was able to be the best version of myself I can be. I was able to reconnect with an old counselor and really got the best counseling and psychiatric help that has led me to amazing coping skills that have really helped me to not only be there for him but also myself!
So, what are some ways to feel true to yourself, I don’t know what will work for you but for me I spend time with my husband, my cats or I listen to music! The point is that to stay the best wife that I can be to my husband who gives so much of himself to me, I take time out for myself!
Now, why do I feel so inclined to discuss this with you all? My hope is to reach those who feel emotionally and mentally unstable to let them know that there is help out there. That people do care about you, if you folks ever need anything don’t hesitate to reach out! If you feel like no one cares about you, I do! I am an honest to good person and wear my heart on my sleeve, but I am only an email away! Please try to love yourself and always be true to yourself!
